Child Enrollment Requirements

The Purpose of Mentoring:
The purpose of mentoring is to introduce an additional caring adult into the life of each child of an incarcerated parent. This additional caring adult is someone who the child can talk to on a personal level and spend time with. In the mentoring relationship, the mentor and the child spend at least an hour per week together. During their weekly time together they can focus on schoolwork, reading, talking, or just spending time hanging out together - similar to any big brother, big sister relationship.

Enrollment Requirements:
- Both the child and the volunteer mentor are asked to make an 18 month committment to the relationship
- Children must be between 6-16 years of age
- The child's legal guardian must review and sign the Guardian Consent form
